THE ONE-DAY CONFERENCE FOR POSTGRADUATE SOCIOPHONETICIANS
6TH SEPTEMBER 2024

London Calling:

ELSoC24 will be a one-day postgraduate conference, bringing together postgraduate sociophoneticians from across the UK and beyond to Queen Mary University of London to present their work, receive feedback from established scholars in the field, and to network with other sociophoneticians.

About the conference

On Friday 6th September, postgraduate phoneticians are invited to spend the day in East London, either to give a short talk or poster presentation on their work, or simply to spend time with other researchers in the field.

The conference will be free to attend

On the day, breakfast and lunch will be provided for free to all attendees.

The morning and afternoon sessions will be followed by a trip to our local, The Lord Tredegar, with a meal for attendees also included.

We hope that the day will be a great opportunity for those of us working in sociophonetics to get to know one another!

Keynote speaker

We are excited to announce that Dr Danielle Turton (Lancaster) will be the keynote speaker for our conference. She will be speaking to us about her research on rhoticity in Northern England.
